Multiple Sclerosis

Multiple sclerosis is a serious neurological disorder which sometimes can be disabling and sometimes not. The Social Security Administration looks to see if you experience disabling symptoms - such as difficulty walking, moving your arms or legs, tremors, urination, blurred vision, numbness, or fatigue -  that last for periods of  12 months or more.  For conditions that tend to wax and wane, we recommend that you keep a calendar or diary of your symptoms to show the Social Security Administration that you would frequently be absent from work because of the illness.

In our experience, diagnosing multiple sclerosis is a long process and people who experience the symptoms associated with the diagnosis will be in and out of work while the medical community tries to figure out the cause. It is important to show the Social Security Administration your attendance records while you were in and out of work because sometimes you can be found disabled  during the period you were still trying to work.
