Fibromyalgia

The Social Security Administration recognizes fibromyalgia as a disabling disease in some cases. The Social Security Administration  looks to see  whether  you have trigger or tender points in multiple areas of your body and what other symptoms you have such as fatigue, headaches, depression and difficulty sleeping. It is important to have a doctor who has worked with you for a period of time and who is supportive of your claim for disability. It is also important to follow your doctor’s recommendations regarding exercise and use of medication. If possible, medical records from a rheumatologist are the best evidence of fibromyalgia and its disabling effects.

If you suffer from fibromyalgia, we recommend that you keep a diary of your ups and downs to document how often the illness would interfere with work activity.
