Chronic Pain

Chronic pain can be a debilitating illness but it is very hard to prove. Pain cannot be seen on an xray or MRI and the Social Security Administration does not grant disability benefits based upon a person’s description of their illness alone. The Social Security Administration will look for evidence of an underlying medical condition that can cause the pain. Once that is established, then other evidence will be reviewed and this can include statements from friends and family members.

In our experience, chronic pain can also lead to depression and anxiety and that aspect of your disability needs to be documented in the claim as well.
